About Us:
African Vision Malawi is a charitable organization which was established in 2005.The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of children and the vulnerable people in Malawi in the areas of health, education, environment and self-sufficiency.
Sam’s Village a training facility of African Vision Malawi is seeking a dedicated Librarian to support our community and school children.The library serves are a vital resource for learning and development in the area.
Vacancy: Librarian
Location: Sam’s Village, Chigonthi Village near M’bang’ombe Trading Centre, Lilongwe District
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist community members and children in locating and using library resources.
- Organize, shelve and catalogue books and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of library materials issued and returned.
- Promote a welcoming and supportive environment for all users.
- Support with community outreach and reading programs.
- Ensure the library is clean, safe and well maintained.
- Maintain a quiet and conducive environment for study and reading.
- Provide weekly, monthly and annual reports as required.
- Liaise with the National library for new, up-to-date reading materials donation.
Qualifications and Skills
- A diploma in Library and Information Science or its equivalent.
- Previous experience in a library, school or community service role is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Additional Requirement
- Willingness to live and work in a rural setting at Sam’s Village.
- Commitment to serving the local community and school children.
- Teaching skills
- Able to support other administrative support when required
- Must be flexible and sensitive to diverse background.
